Zamar Lo-Fi Album

‘Zamar’ is a Hebrew word meaning, to make music or play a musical instrument, encapsulates the essence of this project. ‘Zamar’, lastly echoes how Idrees has dedicated this album and his life to; to sing and make melody with all of his being.

Wednesday the 31st of March 2021 – London-based producer/instrumentalist, Idrees Oloyede of Divine Keys, continues his creative flow with the release of a new innovative, instrumental album. Titled ‘Zamar’, this follows after the release of his first album ‘Shaphak’ which was described as a ‘beautifully arranged set that addresses different topics and human experiences of knowing God’ (from a review by AStepFwd).

The 7-track body of work was recorded in his home studio using only sounds from two of his keyboards, The Nord Stage 2EX and the Yamaha MODX, giving room for simplistic sounds whilst enthralling its listeners.

After spending some time listening to Lo-Fi music, Idrees took advantage of the lockdown period to delve into new areas of his music, infusing Lo-Fi nuances

with sounds he enjoyed listening to whilst growing up, RnB and Hip Hop. He challenged himself to create a body of work that followed the same premise as his first album, making music that people could listen to while praying or reading the Word but this time extending it to music that anyone can listen to whilst working or simply relaxing.

To celebrate his release, Idrees also revealed a music video titled ‘It is Just the Beginning’, taken from the new album. In this it displays him playing three different instruments at once, taking his inspiration from musician, Jacob Collier. This video beautifully captures the nature of the album with him being in a room essentially jamming with himself. Video can be VIEWED HERE.

Each track on the album is intentionally titled, telling a story and taking every listener on their individual journey. Idrees has made a few throwback references to his first album which may require listeners to listen to in order to understand certain concepts on ‘Zamar’.
